What Is a Pipperoo? The dictionary definition: someone or something wonderful. Our definition: every child, for starters. What Is Creative Drama?Creative drama is a term used to describe dramatic activities that enhance reading and storytelling for young children. While listening to a story, children can pantomime, act out the story independently, or explore the theme with related role-playing games. What Is a Creative Drama Kit?Pipperoos' creative drama kits include dress-up materials, illustrated storybook, and access to online content in one package. Each kit focuses on one theme, and includes either a single or an ensemble set of characters. Pipperoos will soon offer complementary products, such as backdrops, floor mats, and a variety of props, to enhance the creative experience in the home or classroom. Our introductory product line is intended for children ages three to eight. What Are the Benefits of Creative Drama?Bold or shy, restless or focused, quiet or outspoken, all children can enjoy new ways of expressing themselves through creative drama. By stepping into the narratives of their favorite stories, and taking on characters' roles as their own, children move from being observers to active participants in reading and storytelling. As parents, educators, and caregivers, we encourage the best in our children by engaging their imaginations and helping them learn through doing. Creative drama is less about performing or putting on a show, than it is about developing essential skills for leading a successful life: confidence, communication, collaboration, creativity, and care—for ourselves, for others, and for the world we live in. So have fun dressing up, with one child or several, and let the story unfold. And, in the end, we hope each child wears a smile, as they discover we are all Pipperoos—something truly wonderful. Our MissionOur mission is to encourage educators, caregivers, and families to bring creative drama into their classrooms and homes, inspiring young children to:
In developing each kit, we partner with non-profit organizations that champion:
With our partners, we strive to create a community of young people who see themselves as capable, responsible citizens with a strong desire to serve the "greater good"—at home, in their communities, and beyond.
